Noon March 10, 2010
The next speaker is …….
E.K. Kravitz, a
conversation with a one of a kind.
Worn, gentle, sweet, darling, story teller, Dominion Resources
retiree and Dad are part of this friend who has been in two movies made in
Richmond.
John Farmer represented our club at the just concluded
Cabinet meeting. Lion Art Tyson
is enTysing Lions and friends to visit the Burkeville Lodge on Saturday from
11- 6PM. A sign up sheet will be
passed around. The Lodge also
wants your donations. Giving
Lion members that work for the good of the club on committees, White Cane
Days, Festival time are easier targets for our largesse.
The RHLC came up with an ingenious and cooperative way
of helping the Lakeside Club.
We used our bargaining acumen with the nice people at
Lenscrafters to help Lakeside to deliver a pair of glasses for only $50.
By the way, why do we call glasses “a pair”?
On March 24, 2010…..
the speaker will be Chip Farmer, the
Executive Director of the Greater Richmond Technology Council, or get this,
GRTC as in Linda Broady-Myers.
Chip was born in Ginter Park where both of his parents still have
fond memories. With gorgeous
wife, Libba, they have three children, Beth a freshman at JMU, Kate a junior
@ Steward and
Will@ Steward in the 7th
grade. Remember that Speaker
Farmer has already gone to a Richmond Host Lions Club meeting.
Unfortunately. Chip and Gus swapped lies and good food. Gus, the owner of
Byram’s told Chip that he didn’t miss much.
And the singing was to die for.
Long term friends….. We
brainstormed about fund raisers.
Mary Bullock suggested to rent a Funny Bones Comedy troupe to perform. We
need to take a huge crowd to the Flying Squirrels.
The Rehab Vol. Board are going on the 27th of July which
is a Tuesday. That sounds like
fun. The best idea was to rent the Byrd Theater on a Saturday at 9:30 and
show the movie “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn”.
People need to see what a depression really looks like through the
eyes of two young children, a over-worked mother and spirited husband.
Details later.
Have you ever nodded off and woke up thinking you had
just written a great PAW, or at least a better one than the current group
are putting out. Call Lion Jay
once you have sobered up.
Have you ever thought that you would like to be on the
Memorial Trust Fund Board if a vacancy popped up?
Call Lion Sue Cobb if you are so inclined.
Have you ever thought about getting on the telephone tree built by
Lion Norvell? Many Lions dream
of leading the songs, saying the prayer, greeting our club members and
guests. If you are not an
officer of the Club or a Committee member call Lion Sue. And if not, why are
you in the Lions Club?
You know Mr. Moorehead is a very nice Lion.
He is busy but he remembers us often and we appreciate what he does
for us.
The Memorial Trust Fund met for 15 minutes after the last meeting.
The MTF is in the exploratory phase of thinking about turning over
the MTF proceeds to be handled by the Community Foundation of Richmond.
Bobby Thalhimer runs the Community Foundation. Bobby Thalhimer is a
peach. Details later. I hope
Snippy drops in sometime.
God Bless you, and Tiny Tim too.
