Remembering PDG Bill and
other “Paw” exclusives...
Last Meeting: The Raven Appears...
After Lion Jan “Took” us out to the “Old Ball Game” and PDG John
prayed for club guidance from a higher authority, we took a
guided tour of the Poe Museum.
Chris Semtner, Curator
of the Poe Museum 1914-16 E. Main St. Richmond, VA 23223,
http://www.poemuseum.org/index.html took use through the
life of Edgar Allen Poe in a humorous and sometimes dark
overview of the famed writer. Get info at the website above or
go down to the Museum for a guided tour or perhaps even attend
“Unhappy Hour” held each 4th Thursday. The
Tail-Twister added to the dark mode by fining those Lions that
could not answer trivia on the subject. Once again our program
Chair came through with a great program.

recovery.

Merger Talk: We’ll be having joint meetings with the
Tuckahoe and Lakeside Lions beginning in July. PDG John and I
have been meeting with the PDG’s from those clubs in an effort
to strengthen our overall service to the community and retain
the maximum number of members. Some of the pro’s of combining
clubs are 40 more members to add to the roster, which will
result in a reduction in dues and meeting cost as we’ll have no
problem meeting the minimum for attendance. In fact, dues could
drop to $120.00 if we keep our “Paw” as we currently mail it, or
as low as $80.00 per year if we do the “Paw” electronically.
Lower dues and a larger club will attract more new members. We
can continue meeting at Byrams, but with the other clubs we’d
need to have Wednesday Lunch meetings twice a month. Everyone
would be invited to the Board Meetings, especially if they can
not make a lunch meeting. The Con’s are we each might have to
make some new friends and slightly adjust our schedules. Let’s
keep an open mind and see what happens after a few joint
meetings… It’s for the good of the Club and the Community “We
Serve.”
