The sight conservation programs of the Lions are the main focus of our club.

Examples of projects and supported by the Richmond Host Lions in recent years include:

  • Purchased approximately $10,000 worth of eyeglasses annually for the indigent in Richmond.

  • Recycled over 1,000 pairs of used eyeglasses.

  •  Purchased adaptive computer equipment for visually impaired students.

  • Supported the Virginia Association of Workers for the Blind, Burkeville Lodge renovation

  • Worked with Virginia Rehabilitation Center for the Blind Volunteer Council

  • Financially supported Prevent Blindness Virginia and Leader Dogs for the Blind.

  • Supported events for blind citizens, such as Blind Bowling League and Christmas Party for the Blind.

With funds raised we are also able to support other organizations such as The Virginia Lions Hearing Foundation, The Central Virginia Lions Hearing Aid Bank, The Communication Center for the Deaf, Lions Bland Memorial Music Scholarships, the Spinoza Bear Program and individual visually impaired persons in our community.
